Well done to Mason, Kitana, Jonathan, Macey, Charlie, Ashton, Isabella, Ackram and Isobelle!

Year 6 have been constructing their own zoetropes…  these fabulous devices produce the illusion of motion by displaying a sequence of drawings or photographs showing progressive phases of that motion.  Our zoetropes are powered by cogs that transform the horizontal torque of the gear into vertical torque…

As a result of our work on Zoetropes, we started to explore the evolution of the horse… we discovered why the horse evolved and then wrote explanatory texts.  The class decided the two pupils who wrote the best explanations were Mason and Adam:

Year 6 also represented Dunn Street at a Virtual Quiz run by ICT in Schools – they scored an impressive 21/25… we will now never forget the country that has won the most World Cups and realise we have a gap in our Disney Soundtrack knowledge (some might say, “No bad thing!”)…

Year 6s, who are off to Jarrow School in September, joined class members virtually, and participated in a Google Meet run by Mrs Robinson who presented all the “must know” information in preparation for the big move!

We finished the week by watching the end of Black Beauty…

Congratulations to Mrs Baxter’s Mathopoly winner – Isabella…
Melting points and evaporation were explored in Mrs Baxter’s science this week…
